释义 | Today I came to the Paragraph 8 and 9. In the business world today, the company can't run the organization only for profit. They have more responsibilities to the society. They can no longer treat their employees as working machines. They should give enough respect to their employees. The author gave some examples like ethnic diversity, harassment, hiring and firing, profit sharing, and other labor/management policies. As the world is developing, we have more cross- country corporations now. So the corporations are cross culture. It makes difficulities to deal with the relationship among the employees from different background. How to deal with this complicated problem is an important task the companys have to solve. And hiring and firing is not as simple as we see. First, let's talked about hiring. The company have to give out a certain standard to hire an employee. If the candidate passed the test much too easier than the other employees, it would break the mental balance of the other employees. And if the company had any unfairness to the candidate, they will have difficulties when they want to have more employees. And firing is the same thing. In the 9th paragraph, the author used an interesting word "celebrating". We ususlly use this word when we are happy and in the festivals. But the author used it here. I thinl the author want to emphsize the importance of "varied perspectives that workers from different backgrounds bring to the job". |
