词条 | the activity in mid-autumn day |
释义 | Chinese people have many traditional festivals to celebrate their history and culture. The mid-autumn day is one of the most important festivals of those kinds. When I was a child, I remember that I felt happy every mid-autumn day because of a number of round moon cakes and the dishes which the adults were good at. In a certain mid-autumn day, an old relative told me about the origin. There is an interesting history about Mid-Autumn Festival. Once upon a time, there was a king in one of the dynasties of China who treated the people cruelly and failing in managing the country. The people were so angry that a few brave people made an idea that is killing the king. As a result, they put notes into cakes in order to tell about the meeting place and time. On the 15th day of the 8 lunar month, every person was told to buy the cakes. Because the moon was round in that evening, the Chinese people celebrate by eating moon cake for the sake of memorizing such an exciting event from then on. This mid-autumn day was connected with the national day, so our college students had a long holiday for seven days. I backed home and helped my mother to clean the house. At that evening, my family got together to have a big dinner with the music playing. After dinner, we sat in the balcony to enjoy the moon while having moon cakes. The moon was so round and bright, it occurred to me to think about lots of happy things. |
