贾森·罗巴兹(Jason Robards)1922年7月26日生于伊利诺斯州芝加哥。其父贾森·罗巴兹·苏里是早期的戏剧、电影演员。珍珠港事件时服役于海军约7年，并获得海军十字勋章。退役后去纽约，曾做过司机、教师，参与广播剧、电视剧的演出。

1957年以《日夜旅行》获纽约戏剧评论奖。1959年以《旅行》走上银幕。30多年中主演了一大批影片，其中1976、1977年分别以《总统班底》、《朱莉娅》连续两次荣获奥斯卡最佳男配角金像奖。2000年12月死于癌症。其它主要影片还有《长夜漫漫路迢迢》、《一千个小丑》、《美国离婚方式》、《恺撒大帝》、《铁达尼克号重见天日》、《恐怖狂欢节》等。
