质子数和中子数互换的一对原子核称为 。例如 Li（4中子3质子）和 Be （3中子4质子）。

如果将一个原子核中的所有质子换成中子，中子换成质子，就得到另一个原子核。这两个原子核彼此互为镜像核，如H和He互为镜像核。
