| 释义 | In this paragraph, there is a long sentence, illustrating some major behavior of competitive showoffs, but I can understand its meaning and read it fluently as I have read a lot of similar sentences in IELTS’. The author points out competitive showoffs are people who reside in permanent state of rivalry. I guess in order to show off their superiority, they maybe spend much time on working, studying, and so on. Sometimes they live under the immense stress and no relaxation, because of a fierce competitiveness. Then at the last part of this paragraph, it is a story, which a competitive mother shows off she is obviously much more beloved by her daughter. It makes me remember another story that often happens around us. Lucy had a low mark in a final exam; she was very sad and felt unconfident so she told her worry to Lily, her best friend. But Lily said: “dear, I’m also very disappointed, I only got 99, not 100 in such an easy exam.’’ Clearly, this showoff is really offensive and never nice. It doesn’t soothe a friend while [it] maybe hurt friendship and cause blunder and repentance. We should avoid this type of showoffs in interpersonal communications, -----good job |
