释义 | There’s a phrase, “give no clue to”, which means “have nothing to do with something”. When I read these two paragraphs, I have stopped for several minutes to thinking about its meaning, because I had never seen it before. Then, by connecting the contexts, I get it. I think it’s a good phrase to be used in compositions. In the passages, using this phrase is better than its explanation I wrote above, after all, that’s used too frequently. An unusual phrase will bring reader a new feeling and avoid the sense of boring. Another thing which I interested in is the word “mushroom”. It has two meanings. First, “grow and develop quickly” as a verb; second, “a fast-growing fungus with a round top and short stem” as a noun. I can’t say this word is a new one for all of us. But as to me, it is strange enough to be understood. For the time being, it carved in my mind and I think I can use it properly in my writing. In paragraph five, the writer said there’s no certain connection between gender and happiness. I agreed. Who can said loudly that I’m a man so I’m happier than a woman or because I’m a woman so I’m happier than a man. No one have this absolute confidence, neither man nor woman. The writer said “Everyone will express his (her) happiness when he (she) is content with his (her) life.” I agreed. Different people value different happiness. For me, I view my happiness as a sentence that is “the ordinary people, the ordinary well-being”. |
