Consumers are being confused and misled by the hodge-podge of advertisiment claim in new days. The appeal of advertising to buying motives can have both negative and positive effects. Sometimes advertisiment claims are intentionally misleading to consumers. But every coin have two sides, emotional appeals may respond to a consumer`s real concerns. I think the reason of this condition is that there are too many different styles of advertisiment claims.

After learned this artical we can get some information about advertisiments about advertisiments, the advertisiment claim is the verble or print part of an advertisiment that makes some assertion of superiority for the product being advertisiment. Although a few of advertisiment claims are downright lies,some are honest statements about a truly superior product,but most fall into the category of neither bold lies nor hlepful consumer information. So there are a bunch of different products that have different advertisiment claims.

As we all know that the reason so many ad claims fall into the category of false information is that no one superior product exists, so producters need to have different ad claims for attracting consumer`s imperssions.

At frist, I don`t undersantand what meanings of  this sentence,”even the weasel “help”did not prevent the FTCfrom demanding that this ad be withdrawn.”. Then I checked the word of “prevent” in dictionary, now I know what meanings of this word. The frist meaning of Prevent is to keep from doing or happening ,the second meaning is hinder. I think in this article prevent means stop somebody to do something.

As have leared this article,I have many interested in advertisiment claims. So I have got many informations about advertiment claims.The 10-country study surveyed product packaging in Britain, western Europe. Scandinavia and the USA. It found that products sold in Germany and United Kingdom made the most ad claims on average.

But the report focused on claims made by specific products and hidded the problems of products. Such as detergent insect sprays and by some garden products. It did on test the claims, but compared them to labeling guidelines set by the international Stanadards Organization in sept.1999.

Although the advertisiment claims have many misled for people. But sometimes I do believe that it can increase the impressions of products for people. Each consumer must evaluate her or his own situation. Are the benefits of the product important enough to justify buying it? At least ad claims are just induceing consumers to buy products not force them do.
