释义 | In Paragraph 23, there is an interesting word “shamelessly” which draws my attention. From the AOD online dictionary, I know it means “not seeming to be ashamed of your bad behaviors although other people think you should be ashamed”. Then I see a phrase “take a bow”.The phrase“take a bow” means “stand forward or stand up to”. I think we could not translate it on its literal meaning Showoffs want to gain clap and cheer in this way. A special phrase “count as” confused me. I want to know why the author says “no quitting”. The author seems to being tell us that the exulting is acceptable in this paragraph. First, we are not addicted about exulting; second, we should try to study to walk off the stage and give clap and cheer for the people’s performance. We should try to give other people some opportunities to show off .We all need this time to be the center of the stage. To share the appreciations we got? In a word, exulting is forgivable and acceptable in our daily life. We only need to hold the limitation of it, because it is a two–edged sword. |
