释义

The article illustrates that many parents and teachers encourage it [?] by their own attitude; [attitudes]teachers and psychologists hold the opinion that the only way to stop students from cheating is keeping them from developing the habits in high school, or even in elementary school in paragraph from 9 to 11. It is a big section so that I hard [which is hard for me] to comprehend. To begin with the paragraph 9, the first sentence said “offer papers written by term—paper companies”, what does the “offer” indicate, and there are two dashes in this sentence, why the author use it. [them]

When it comes to next, [the next paragraph] one person’s word very obscure to me, [was too vague for me to understand] “I can’t lay a guilt trip on a child” so guilt trip, can the two nouns use together? What is that mean? I find it is funny that parents think that cheating is not important. When I was young, teacher tells my mother that I peek [peeked] at other’s [other] tests; she was very anger, [angery] my buttock hit by father and badly swollen. I think if children tell a lie or cheating [cheat] in exam, parents would punish children seriously. So my view isn’t identical with the author’s idea.

Turning to paragraph 12, the Mr. James R. Socas said “I wouldn’t be comfortable with an honor code like ours…………” so, comfortable is described relaxed and free from pain, I think it not suitable for using in here, though I know he must be right. And I agree with [to] James’ point of view that young people must be allowed to make mistake which I am a fervent advocate. There is no rose without any thorns, sage has no exception. All of us will ripen by committing mistake. We shouldn’t completely negative [?]a guy who just makes a mistake.

Eventually, there is a double quotation mark (“pedagogical”) in the paragraph 15. I don’t understand the meaning, may be the author emphasis on something, I guess. In the end of the article, Beverly Betz advances a useful strategy to stop cheating.

In my opinion, some people don’t want to tell lies, so they are trying to be as honest as possible and others will from time to time fell [feel] hurt because of the truth they tell, [told] truth always really sorrowful. Sometimes white lies will lead to good results and help maintain harmonious interpersonal relationships. So we have to know when and where we should tell the truth or tell lies. I believe that we must study how to get along with people quite well in the university, when we graduate [graduated] and work in the social, we will feel just like a fish in water.
