释义 | Turning to the para(paragraph).23, I find something is interesting, and it is worth reading. For instance, the author used “shamelessly” to describe exulting. We know the word “shamelessly” means without shame, not modestly. I still remembered the author regarded exulting as a permissible form of showing off. So in my view, maybe it is exaggerated. And another word “addicted” also bewilders me. Looking it up in the dictionary for help, I know it refers to like something so much that you do not want to stop doing it or having it. Then the author illustrated some terms in order to explain that we’re allowed to exult if we follow these rules. After understanding the whole paragraph, we know when we don’t get addicted and we would give others a place---to clap and cheer for their performance, hence, we can be forgivable and acceptable to show off. During the reading process, I note several brackets. Based on analyzing the structure of the sentence, I think it is examples to explain the conditions. Meanwhile, Mr. Deng asked me what the “stage” means. Obviously, it is metaphor. Life is a stage; indeed, everyone has some performances on this stage. I do really like this paragraph because it tells me philosophy---we’re able to walk off the stage (clap and cheer while others take their bows---which will be useful in my future. |
