在1996年11月底，李玟推出在台湾新力音乐发行的第一张英文专辑，销售直逼国际天后席琳·狄翁、玛丽亚·凯莉。11月发片，跨年热卖突破50万张，人气、买气双冠天后。

由Mariah Carey（玛丽亚凯莉）的专属制作人Walter Afanasieff量声订做主打歌“It's a Party”，在录制这首歌的过程当中，CoCo每天在录音室中连续不停地灌唱八个钟头，完成16个不同表现方式的OK版本；在曾经制作过玛丽亚凯莉每张专辑、也曾与Michael Bolton、Barbara Streisand、Celine Dion等国际知名艺人合作的美国超级顶尖制作人Walter A.眼中，CoCo李玟相当具有成为国际艺人的天分与本钱，因而主动要求帮CoCo再写两首歌。

当然除了Walter A.的跨刀之外，台湾及新加坡杰出的制作人阵容，更让这张专辑丰富精彩，连各大Pub中的DJ也对CoCo赞许有加，纷纷邀请她演出，莫怪CoCo当时在台湾掀起一阵Party热潮！

国际评价

CoCo的的音色得天独厚，收放自如。其歌唱实力不只在台湾受人注目，连在美国一手捧红玛丽亚·凯莉的制作人Walter Afanasieff都赞许有加。Walter觉得：CoCo拥有媲美玛丽亚·凯莉的清亮高音与唱腔，而且她声音中略带淘气的节奏感，更是直逼Jeanet Jackson。

在李玟的“It's A Party"专辑中，Walter A.为她亲自制作，并写了“It's A Party"，CoCo由此跨出国际性的第一步。Sony Music总裁Mottola在听过CoCo的歌后，认为她是相当出色的歌者，不管是音域、音色、甚至连英文歌的腔调都丰美道地，认定她是亚洲音乐系统中最值得栽培和最重要的艺人。
