生于亚利桑那州塔克森。曾经是全美棒球队的啦啦队队长，也是一位演唱流行歌曲的青年歌手。在五十年代初投身于影坛，曾在不少影片中演出，扮演主角。在电视系列剧《怎样嫁一个百万富翁》和《我梦见珍妮》中担任主角，获得成功。
