本片是直接以发行影音产品的方式推出上市，在美国本地所发行的版本其英文片名为【Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search For Christopher Robin】，但是在海外所发行的版本（即美加以外地区所发行的版本），却都采用另一英文片名【Winnie thePooh's Most Grand Adventure】。本片剧情延续【小熊维尼历险记】１９７７年电影版的最后，小男孩 Christopher Robin 必须去上学了，故他留了一封信给百亩森林的朋友们，说他必须暂时与他们告别了。但是这群以 Pooh 为首的“小脑筋”动物们居然误会信中的意思，猫头鹰把“school（学校）”看成“skull（骷髅）”，Pooh 和他的朋友们居然以为 Robin 迷路遇到麻烦，身陷“骷髅之眼”之中，於是他们决定展开一次“救援 Christopher Robin”的大冒险！本片延续 Winnie the Pooh 七十大寿的热潮而制作的，部分是由日本迪士尼动画部门所完成制作，在美国上市时有不错的销售成绩。
