释义 | After reading the unit 3, I think success only comes through hard work. It is easy to guess which half of the company would stand in line for the next promotion or which half would lose their job should the company face a recession. It does not require a brilliant mind to know which half consists of content, happy people. For one half a job is not only a chore they need to do to get paid, but an opportunity to learn, contribute, grow, make friends, solve problems, overcome obstacles, and experience victories. For the other half a job is merely the means to an end — money — and not an end in itself. It has been said that for a parent to be a model is not the most important thing, it is the only thing. Perhaps that is an exaggeration, but we do realize the value of example in terms of raising children. One area in which this is paramount is that of developing attitudes toward the activities in life which are frequently just considered to be chores, which is cooking, kitchen work, grocery shopping, and household repairs. If a mother communicates to her children, girls and boys included, the belief that cooking is drudgery which has to be endured, rather than an enjoyable activity, the chances are they will end up with the same attitude. Or if a father transmits a similar message about household repairs, there is the likelihood that none of his kids will play the very valuable role of being a handyperson in a future home, replacing washers and fixing screens. |
