《火星叔叔马丁》在CBS从1963年播放到1966年，雷·沃斯顿扮演的马丁叔叔从外星降落到地球上，这让他的名字家喻户晓。主要讲述来自火星的Exodus因事故落到地球上，此后跟记者蒂姆·欧哈利（比利·比可斯白饰演）一家同住。新闻记者为掩饰他的火星人身份，对外称他为马丁叔叔（英文中“马丁”和“火星人”发音相近）。尽管马丁叔叔长得和人类一样，并且说英文，但他有着很多火星人的特点，如他头后有着可伸缩的天线，能把自己隐身，能看透别人的心思，能遥指移物。由此产生种种问题和笑料。
