弗兰奇·莫尼兹首次亮相荧屏是在电视电影《To Dance With Olivia》中，此后Fox的电视连续剧《马尔柯姆的一家》（MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE）中，他扮演的马尔柯姆一角给观众留下难以磨灭的印象，2001年他因此第一次获得艾美奖喜剧剧集类最佳男演员提名，并两度获金球奖电视喜剧/音乐剧集类最佳男演员提名，。

莫尼兹在电影界也确立了自己的地位，在《少年特工特迪》（Agent Cody Banks）及其续集《少年特工科迪2：伦敦追踪》（Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London）中扮演了007的侄子——一位美国少年间谍，并在喜剧《超级大骗子》（Big Fat Liar）中担纲主演，与阿曼达·拜恩斯（Amanda Bynes）演对手戏。此外他还主演了获得好评的影片《我的小狗斯基普》（My Dog Skip），并在《野蛮对决》（Deuces Wild）中扮演配角，与马特·狄龙（Matt Dillon）和斯蒂芬·多尔夫（Stephen Dorff）两位大明星合作。
