杨继东，男，1966年出生于上海。1991年北京大学历史系研究生班结业。1991-1994年任上海书店出版社编辑。2000年获美国宾夕法尼亚大学（University of Pennsylvania）亚洲与中东博士学位。2008年获美国罗格斯大学（Rutgers University）图书馆与情报学硕士学位。2000-2008年担任宾夕法尼亚大学图书馆中文部主任及该校东亚语言与文明系讲师，2008年7月至今任美国密歇根大学（University of Michigan）亚洲图书馆馆长。
