The Story Of Us是Speak Now专辑里最后完成创作的一首歌。

回溯到2010年6月9日，CMT乡村音乐电视奖在Nashville举行，Taylor在这次颁奖典礼上遇上了前男友——John Mayer

（John Mayer，歌手，出生于1977年10月16日，与Taylor合作了Half Of My Heart）

两个人仅隔了6个座位，但没有任何一方愿意和对方说话，尽管Taylor认为他们其实都有很多想说的。两个人都互作忙碌，与其他人攀谈，而Taylor描述那种感觉简直可以杀死她，她说：“我们都像是在打沉默战,抱着一种我才不在乎你在这里的态度。那感觉真是太糟了，也让我觉得心碎的怪异。”

This is about one of those situations where the strange place that I ran into him was an awards show.
