为了演出片中养蜂人家的角色，玛丽吉兰还特别提前飞到加拿大外景拍摄地点的养蜂场，花了一个月的时间学习养蜂与采蜜的专业技术，并挑战了曾在Discovery频道中见识过的“蜂衣”特技表演，还因为对蜜蜂的螫咬有着轻微头晕等过敏反应，而被送医急救。
