Shine Dión

English Introduction

Shine Dión is a Norwegian duo that started out in Skien in 1993. It consists of Janne Hansen: vocals and lyrics and Per Selör: composer and guitars.

The music can be described as a blend between Norwegian and Irish folk tunes, with hints of progressiv. Among the instruments they are using are: violin, flutes, saxophone, mandolin, percussions, mellotron, accoustic/el.guitars. The lyrics are inspired by mythology, fairy tales and the scenery of Norwegian landscapes.

Shine Dión creates a blend of the ancient and the modern, resulting in a pastoral, fragile and timeless atmosphere.

Shine Dión made their debut in 1994 with a 3-track CD called "Berkana". The CD-title was named after an old viking rune which symbolizes growth. "Berkana"was released on the Norwegian record company "Colours", as the first of their new folk label records.

A second CD "Killandra" was released in October 1998 by Shine Dións own company "The Holly". Killandra is a full length production with 11 tracks. It is also available on LP.

In April 2005 Shine Dión released a promotion single to the radio stations in Norway. The single consisted of 2 songs. "Secret Lullabye" was made and produced by Shine Dión.

"KILLANDRA" was released October 1998 and consists of 11 songs in the lyric folk style of SHINE DIÓN. The full length CD is a step beyond their last release Berkana and unleashes more melodic variations and depth. From the cheerful Flow to the mindflowing Dawn, Shine Dión wishes to capture your imagination of northern and mythical landscapes. Please join us on the musical journey of Killandra.

The lenght of the CD is 45 minutes and the songs vary between aprox 3 - 7 minutes. It is recorded in Klyve Lydstudio in Norway and produced by Shine Dión. Killandra is produced on lisence by Si-Wan Records for sale in Korea. The CD is also distributed by Black Widow, Italy, Musea, France and Panorama Records, Norway.

Shine Dión released their third CD the 14th of February 2002. The title is "WYN". The CD consist of 10 warm and melodic songs, among them the instrumental "THE VALLEY'S SONG". The lenght of the CD is 43 minutes. It is recorded in Klyve Lydstudio in Norway and produced by Shine Dión.

The musical style of the new Shine Dión CD "WYN" blends element from norwegian and celtic folk tunes in a contemporary way, with hints of prog/folk rock. The lyrics are inspired by the norwegian landscape and the tradition of fairy tales.

Among the musicans/instruments on the CD can be mentioned: Trond Villa from the legendary norwegian folk rock band "FOLQUE": harding fiddle and violin, Helene Waage: cello, Jørn Andersen: mellotron, Stian Kristoffersen from the norwegian band "Pagans Mind": drums and percussion, Steinar Krokmo from "Pagans Mind": bass, Guttorm Guttormsen: flute, Endre Christiansen: keyboard, Jørun Bøgeberg from the legendary norwegian band "JUNIPHER GREENE": bass, Per Selör: el/ac guitars, mandolin and Jew's harp.
