I am not very familiar with the relationship between “Quality of life” and “on and off the job”. Based on analyzing the structure of the sentence, I get the understanding that no matter the employees on and off job, the quality of life is more important to them than ever before. Then I read the other sentences of paragraph 6, I find that it is easy to understand this paragraph. Turning to paragraph 7, I am stopped by the first sentence “In today’s ever-changing workplace”. It is my first time to see such a word as “ever-changing”. So I consult it by Longman Online Dictionary. I am so disappoint that I can not get the meaning of the word. So I only have to understand it by myself. In my view, “ever-changing” here means that employees seek employment somewhere else. When I read after this paragraph, I am sure my idea is true. Everyone has some sorts of needs to showoff, because of their self-restrained; they want to be more marketable both inside and outside the company.
