The last sentence was the answer given by the writer. It appears to me that it might be the author’s own thinking about job satisfaction although it was only the stretching about challenge. One specification of the author’s words is inserting example into the sentence as explanation. From the first sentence and the third one of (the)third paragraph, we can(could) get it. It is easier for us to connect our thoughts with what the writer want(wanted) to show.
