释义 | The sentence “a number of companies recently in the news know all too the public impact of internal decisions” in line 48 is very complex. In my opinion, the phase “recently in the news” is describing the “companies”. The word “know” is the predicate in this sentence. “The public impact of internal decisions” is the object. But the phase “all too well” puzzled me. What is that mean for[what does that mean]? Many of my classmates can [could]not tell me too. Finally, I got it in my book, it means very well. From this part, the author gives that value the individual became more and more important. Such as ethnic diversity, harassment, hiring and firing. These issues are compared carefully when people judged the companies. Prospective employees set up varied standards in their minds. The Hearst Corporation sent flowers to their employee’s spouse. It makes the wife very pound in other’s view. And also because of the flowers, their wives were pound with their husbands. It is a good way to encourage employees. Most of employees do not know how to spend their leisure time properly. Some may indulge in outdoor games all day long while others may stay in bed to venture in the dreamland. The companies could do something to make the holiday more wonderful. |
