In the next paragraph, the author uses “meditatively” to describe the resident expert, from this; we can guess that maybe the expert want to show (that)he is thinking about the wine, next he pushes the wine away, it explains the wine is not so good in his opinion, then he may take the people's attention. So the author says they are showing off. In the fifth paragraph, the author put forward that when we complaining something, we are showing off too. I do not know why he said that, because in our daily life, we always complaint when we get troubled or suffer from stress. It is good for our health; I do not think this is showing off.
