释义 | Showing off (23) Firstly, the word ‘shamelessly’ confused me. I find(found) the word through my mind, trying to get some similar word. For a while, the meaning of ‘shame’ had been found. It stands for ‘distressed feeling, lose of self-respect, caused by wrong, dishonorable, or foolish behavior, failure. Somebody or something that is wrong or regrettable.” Then, I guessed it was not a commending and awarding word, may be brazenly, the person who will not shy until he did some worst things. It seems to me that, in this paragraph, there are many metaphors. Metaphor means a figure of speech or symbol. For example, “taking a bow”, it is not real to ask you to bow to someone, it is just an image. It has a deep mean, if we were carefully enough. She does (uses)this body language to beg the listeners’ clapping. And stage does not mean the state which you will give a speech or a performance. It stands for our lives. Personally speaking, the life is bigger stage; we have been acting ourselves every minute. For she is a showoff, the author gave 3 suggestions, they are “we should know when to quit”, “we’d better not get addicted”, and “we ought to be able to walk off the stage.” |
