美国乡村摇滚的老牌传奇歌星、成功的商人和畅销书作家Jimmy Buffett于1946年12月25日出生在美国密西西比州的Pascagoula，在上世纪六十年代末，Jimmy Buffett开始前往美国乡村音乐的圣地纳什维尔开始自己的乡村音乐历程，时年23岁的Jimmy Buffett很快和Barnaby唱片公司签约，并且在1970年发行了首张个人专辑《Down to Earth》。

但是这张专辑并没有取得太大的影响，Jimmy Buffett的唱片公司也抛弃了他，当时唱片公司以专辑丢失为由而不发行他的第二张专辑《High Cumberland Jubilee》，这张专辑后来在他成名之后才又重新被这家唱片公司发行。遭遇挫折的Jimmy Buffett前往佛罗里达州的Key West继续寻求发展，并且在不久之后签约MCA唱片公司。

从1973年Jimmy Buffett的第二张专辑《A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean》开始，他渐渐在商业上取得成功，专辑和单曲排行榜上也开始更多的出现了Jimmy Buffett的名字，而从1974年专辑《Living and Dying in 3/4 Time》开始，Jimmy Buffett的歌曲创作能力尤其是歌曲内容上的思想境界也渐渐得到了人们的认可，此期间的Jimmy Buffett音乐成绩突飞猛进，到1977年专辑《Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes》的时候，他已经成为了一名世界范围内的著名乡村男歌星，这张专辑奠定了他在乡村摇滚乐中的地位。

但是从80年代开始，直到90年代初几年，Jimmy Buffett的音乐生涯又进入到了一个相对的低谷，他连续的几张专辑都很难进入到排行榜的前三十名内，不过这位著名歌手在其他方面却重新取得成功，他在服装领域首先取得突破，进而又在佛罗里达开设了一系列的夜总会和俱乐部，他甚至成为了一名畅销小说的作家，作品时常登上畅销书排行榜！

时年将近50的Jimmy Buffett从90年代开始却进入了整个音乐生涯最辉煌的时期，从1994年的专辑《Fruitcakes》开始，此后三年的连续多张专辑全部进入了Billbaord 200排行榜的前十名，并且将这一势头成功的延续到了新世纪，2002年的专辑《Far Side of the World》再次进入了排行榜的前五名。2004年，Jimmy Buffett发行了最新专辑《License to Chill》，并且首次成为了排行榜的冠军。
