早期乐队发展

乐队早期用名Schoolboy,到1981年在亚利桑那州凤凰城正式成立乐队时才换成Icon.当时还在读高中的Dan Wexler,Stephen Clifford 和Tracy Wallach 三个朋友一起建立这个乐队.后来加入的有吉他手David Henzerling 和鼓手John Covington .84年乐队签约Capitol Records.这个时候成员Henzerling 和Covington 离队,而后加入的是吉他手 John Aquilino和鼓手Pat Dixon

84年7月发行同名专辑.85年发行专辑Night of the Crime.录制期间主唱Stephen Clifford 因个人原因离队.乐队重新组编只在本地发行了一盒名为 More Perfect Union的卡带,呈现出新主唱Jerry Harrison精致的摇滚嗓音,还有新加入的键盘Kevin Stoller.虽然只是在本地发行,但乐队还是很成功了吸引了一些新生代力量的关注.

89年在Atlantic/Megaforce旗下发行专辑Right Between the Eyes ,主唱是Jerry Harrison , Drew Bollman 担任副吉他手.MV"Taking My Breath Away"在MTV频道节目Headbangers' Ball播放.在专辑发行后的一些助唱演唱会后乐队就解散了.主唱另外有自己的音乐工作,其他的乐队成员仍旧继续从事音乐创作.其中吉他手Dan Wexler 为Ailce Cooper作曲录制专辑(Alice曾参与乐队Holy Man's War单曲的幕后合声)94年发行A More Perfect Union的扩展版本(An Even) More Perfect Union其中包括了一些本来在Right Between The Eyes准备要发行的曲目.

重组

2008年乐队为庆祝乐队重组重新发行了在84年的一张现场DVD.之前的成员Wexler, Aquilino & Dixon 还有前任成员Dave Henzerling 和新主唱Scott Hammons 已经在计划准备新专辑.

09年主唱Scott Hammons 离队,随之取代主唱位置的是Sheldon Tarsha.之前计划录制的新歌仍旧还有被保留.

乐队的2张专辑ICON和 Night of the Crime有希望在不久后重新发行.
