这项“情绪管理”课程的负责人，是一位自己就有点疯疯癫癫的精神病医生巴迪(杰克·尼科尔森饰)，他一手创建了“情绪管理”理论和治疗中心，他所著的教人们如何控制自己脾气的书畅销不衰。 巴迪的疗法对于戴夫来说，无异于一场灾难。治疗中心的病人个个脾气古怪，巴迪不断的逼迫戴夫去做一些近乎发疯的事情，让戴夫感到即使不疯也要快要被逼疯了。但是更糟糕的事情还刚刚开始，法庭认为戴夫的进展过于缓慢，如果他再不加快“治疗”，就要送他去监狱了。

剧情介绍

戴夫(亚当·桑德勒饰)本来是一个很正常的生意人，至少看上去非常正常。他有着温文尔雅的外表，和漂亮的女朋友琳达(玛丽萨·托梅饰)。但是不幸的是，在一次飞行旅行中，他失去了控制，被认为不能控制自己的情绪，并被遣送去进行“情绪管理”训练。

被逼入绝境的戴夫，只好忍受巴迪的刺激疗法，例如不断的用污言秽语攻击他的女朋友，不断利用戴夫过去的心灵伤疤来刺激他。戴夫感到自己的极限就要到来，他在退缩封闭自己的内心，还是勇敢面对完整的自己两个选择中，犹豫了……

到底巴迪医生与病人戴夫的磨合调整，会是柳暗花明，还是陷入无尽的内心黑洞当中呢？
