早年毕业于宾夕法尼亚州立大学城市与环境系师从著名生态毒理学家Add Cloudy Ren和植物生态学家Altazimuth Xu ，从事湿地植被多样性研究；与著名辩论专家，美籍华人Diansis human var. Lee是大学同学。

2006年10月，宾夕法尼亚州立大学城市与环境系教授

2009.9至今，任华东师范大学生命科学院教授，博士生导师；

2010年5月受中国科学院“百人计划”项目资助
