幕后制作

美国导演约翰·卡梅隆·米切尔一直想把呈现为生活中再平常也不过的既定现实。他的企图在坎城影展参展影片《巴士》中达到高峰——为了去神秘化，他决定在电影里拍真正的性交。

《巴士》的背景设定在一间以此为名的地下夜总会。这当然并不是第一个有真实性交场面的主流电影。英国制片Michael Winterbottom就曾在他的电影中这么做过。不过约翰·卡梅隆·米切尔的不同之处是他的电影拍了各样广泛的关系——包括同性与异性恋如何交织，当人们试图在夜店里的生命中试着寻觅更多一些什么的时候。

《巴士》不仅是电影手法的实验，也是约翰·卡梅隆·米切尔对美国的批评。他认为美国把性看得太负面。“我真的认为，我们国家现在尤其需要检视一下这种态度。你压下某个东西，它还是会在别的地方冒出来，跟着你不散。”“视而不见、把它扫到地毯下藏着、谈AIDS时只谈守贞、去压迫，这样下去的下场大概就和天主教会阶层现在碰到的问题一样。”这部耗资两百万美金的电影现在可能不容易找到通路发行，尤其在美国。

《巴士》不仅是电影手法的实验，也是导演米切尔尔对美国的批评。片中性爱场面均真枪实弹，毫不保留，在戛纳、多伦多、伦敦各大影展中放映，令观众瞠目结舌。

在我们第一次来到短巴士俱乐部的时候，可以看到有一位俱乐部的会员从盘子里拿了一些东西吃，这位客人是电影《诅咒》（Tarnation 2003）的导演乔纳森·卡乌特（Jonathan Caouette）。《性爱巴士》的导演约翰·卡梅隆·米切尔在《诅咒》中曾经担任过执行制片。

在试镜和选角阶段，任何有意向的演员都要求寄一份十分钟的录像带，是讲述关于他自己人生中最难忘的一次性经历。最终导演收到大约五百盒磁带。
