创作背景

Taylor在12岁那年写下了The Outside这首歌，描述的是她对乡村音乐的追求的过程中遭到同龄人的排斥，身处局外的孤独。

从2006年发行第一张专辑到现在，Taylor可以说是大红大紫，事业也是一帆风顺。但是，早年的她却有着一段颇为辛酸的成长历程。

Taylor出生在宾夕法尼亚州，在那里长大，当她开始追求音乐梦想时，身边的孩子并不能理解：“哈，你唱‘乡村音乐’？！”当时对于她的伙伴们来说，这是在是一件很诡异的事情，Taylor为此受到了众人的嘲笑。

正如在Journey To Fearless第一集里Mama Swift说的，在学校里，午饭时间，当Taylor坐在某张桌子时，那一张桌子的人都会马上离开，不愿意和Taylor同桌吃饭。在学校里，也没有人和她说话，她没有朋友。当别的女孩子都在一起玩的时候，Taylor往往奔波于各种场合进行表演，或是在家里练吉他，写歌。

当2002年4月，Taylor为76人的比赛演唱国歌被媒体大肆报道后，学校里的人越发地孤立Taylor。我还记得之前Elle的采访里，有一次，不知道是为76人表演国歌还是哪次的演出非常成功，Taylor很高兴地打电话给同学，约她们周末一起去逛街，但是几个女孩都推脱有事不能去。于是，Taylor只好和妈妈一起去逛街。就在Shopping Mall里，Taylor看到那几个说没空的“朋友”竟然也在那里逛。可以想象得出当时的Taylor有多伤心，毕竟，她只是一个孩子。

Taylor在采访中说，她把这首歌放进这张专辑，是因为她并不是一直像现在这样被这么多人喜欢，自己也曾经觉得身边没有什么可以信任的人。一直记得自己是从哪里来的是很重要的，没成名前的那些经历不应该被遗忘。

庆幸的是，后来Taylor搬到了Nashville，乡村音乐之都，在那里，同龄人都理解她，喜欢她，她也认识了Abigail这个好朋友，过上了正常的高中生的生活。
