When I read paragraph nine, I find it is too difficult to say [删去] understand this paragraph, firstly, the author uses the word “yet” in order to express a opposite situation, that is to say, these precautions in the former paragraphs are not effective, plenty of students still cheating on the papers written, so in my opinion, students who peeking in the tests so frequently for the simply reason that it is irresistible, such is human nature that a great many students are often willing to take risks for higher scores.

The paragraph ten is an alternative question, do parents and teachers’ attitudes give rise to cheating situations, maybe the author will tell us this answer in the next paragraph.

There is an example of treat cheat’s attitude [attitude of treating cheat] from a mother of a nursery schooler, it tell us clearly that she is concerned [for] his child’s study far more than his behaviors. What is more, this mother believes that it is human nature, no exception it goes without saying her and her child [?]. So if you ask me what the important sentence in this Paragraph is, I am sure the answer is the last sentence because it tells us the cheat is a synthesis of attitudes and human nature.

Paragraph twelve, unexpectedly, Mr. James R. Socas who [is] chairman of the honor committee gives us a [an] available reason to cheating, that is “young people must be allowed to make mistake”. This is another attitude, compared with human nature; it is a more rational attitude. Here “an honor code” and “chairman of the honor committee” refer to the fact that some colleges and universities in the

America.

In paragraph thirteen, I am puzzled by the first sentence, I guess it means professors are [pay] more attention to students’ operating ability rather than memorize unimportant formulas. In the last sentence, the author says that this way not only foster thinking but also prevent from cheating. Here”[ “]foster” means to help a skill, feeling, idea etc develop over a period of time, equal to encourage or promote.

In paragraph fourteen, I know open book [open-book] exams is an effective method to improve cheating phenomenon, the word “dean” I am very interested [in], but there are several meanings in the dictionary, and lastly I choice a accurate explanation, it means” someone in a university who is responsible for a particular area of work”.

Meanwhile, in this paragraph anther [another] famous people Larry Walker, a vice president of academic programs emphasizes the best important is everyone should be concerned this problem. Even they are set up a sub-committee to discuss. Here the word” [“] pedagogical” means relating to teaching methods or the practice of teaching, is it a goal that Cornell university tries to achieve.

In my opinion, the paragraph sixteen is a conclusion about this passage; according to the first sentence maybe we should hold the optimism. However, we have to face the reality that is a [an] elusive goal for us because no one seems less worried about income and pressure. Perhaps, the best way is develop students’ habits [?] in their high school.

For my part, the last sentence is suggestion, a teacher named Beverly Betz advises our parents maybe it wills [will be] a better result if they give less pressure to their children. And also sometimes we don’t worry about occasional failure, it just an experience, and for me, I think try to do my best is the reasonable choice.
