| 释义 | 10 “For we know very well”——“I certainly know”. From “we” to “I”, the author says what she would like to do if she’d been that lucky lady. Yes, it’s so absolute. Everyone will be so happy and want to tell everybody her/his identification. They want the happy and admiration from other persons. “For we know very well” seems a little strange for reading and I would consider it as a wrong grammar if other students wrote this sentence like that. But now, It’s worth to say—— I should learn by heart, it is endless in learning English . The author says she will lay her cards on the table in paragraph 17. I thought it meaned the cards is so special that would make everyone know her. Unfortunately, for me, I found I totally misunderstand. “lay one’s card on the table” means “conceal nothing”. I should not only learn to guess, but also the ways of guessing. The author talks in a very humorous tone in paragraph 18 which I could not comprehend immediately (maybe even in a long time). First of all, I found the word “eventually” is familiar to me, but I wasn’t able to think over its meaning. Second, I couldn’t understand its meaning correctly. |
