| 释义 | In the first sentence of the sixth paragraph, I find the people’s mind has been accompanied by the changing time. They start to enjoy their life whenever they work. Both men and women contend for their life. We must look at this sentence carefully, and then we will find there are two phrase (‘quality of life’ and ‘on and off the job’) as the subject. At the same time, I find a problem. That is why the author uses a word ‘ever’ in front of ‘before’. In my view, it is unnecessary. What is the author’s intention? I haven’t found the answer. So I will ask my NCE teacher. The phrase ‘care for’ draws my attention. I always find some phrases which relates to the word ‘care’. What [is] the meaning of this phrase? From the reference, I know it means ‘like’ or ‘look after’. Obviously, the latter fits the meaning of this sentence. I imagine some similar phrases---‘take care of’ and ‘care about’. ‘Take care of’ only means ‘look after’ and the other phrase means ‘to think it is important’. I have seen these words, ‘workforce’, ‘flextime’ and ‘daycare’ in my human resources management book. They are made up by two words. We can imagine the meaning of the word by considering their components. The first word means ‘labor’ , the second word is ‘a system of working in which employees can vary the time they start and finish work as long as they work the agreed number of hours’ and the third one is ‘looking after children during the day, while their parents are working’. Do you guess their meanings correctly? In the seventh paragraph, I learn a phrase ‘ever-changing’ to describe the social, the workplace, and technology, for example. The author tells me a means [mean] to keep the employees’ passion. But I think it is not a good way. The employees must use some time and money to adapt to their new job. They may be not so good as the former employees about a position. The efficiency of working will decrease in some time, even more loss. So I don’t agree with the author. |
