释义

In the second paragraph, from the “the same kind of contrasts” and relate it to American eating patterns’ problem which author analyze[analyzes] the problem in the first paragraph, I could guess that students don’t matter cheating; they think cheating is not a big problem for themselves. The students’ idea is opposite to American who says he is watching his weight and the teachers’ idea is opposite to the fact that the streets are full of over weight folk.

In the fourth paragraph, there is a new word for me --- unthreatening. I look it up in dictionary. What a pity! I could not found [find] the word in the dictionary. Now the only way is that I try to look threatening up in dictionary. The meaning of the word is “if someone's behavior is threatening, you believe they intend to harm you”. And I think maybe unthreatening is the antonym of threatening.

In paragraph 5 author hold [holds] the ideas that teacher think [thinks] that many parents are abdicating that responsibility. What’s the responsibility that parents are abdicating here? I think it include [includes] that let students knows [know] cheating is dishonest and help students to overcome the urge to cheat.

In this paragraph author cite [cites] a teacher who taught high school in the

Detroit area for 30 years before retiring last year to prove his idea. Why here the author emphasize[emphasizes] the “30 years before retiring last year”? I think here the author want [wants] to borrow it to express cheating is a big problem at schools. 30 years maybe could express that cheating is existing in the school for a long time. And “retiring last year” maybe could express that cheating at school too serious to that [delete that] the teacher can’t forget it after he is retiring.

In the sixth paragraph the author said [says] parents’ inconsistency behavior drives children crazy. Parents don’t like that children cheat on exam, but on [in]the same time they are[delete are] talk about that how to cheating [cheat] on expense accounts or income taxes. Maybe they are forgetting that children are loved to imitate adult, and parents is their best model.

In the seventh paragraph the author holds the idea that why students like to cheat, the reason is that the pressure which [delete which] come[comes] from their parents. I don’t [think] so. Why students want to get into a top college or top graduate school? Because parents’ pressure. But why parents demand it for their children? And why those values become students own? I think the root reason is that [delete that] social pressure.

And in the eighth paragraph the author agree[agrees] with [to] the

University of

Illinois’s behavior. I think it can’t control students cheat on exam. For example schools are tightening their computer security, after having discovered that computer hackers were breaking into electronic college files in order to alter their grades. Yes school only could do “after”. And students could think more and more ways to deal with school’s way.
