After returning my dorm,I continuing my work.I look it up in the LONGMAN ,there is a meaning interestes me.That means “to change a situation, discussion etc by giving special attention to one idea or subject instead of to a previous one”.I think I get it.In terms of narcissistic showoff,the purpose of them is to get admirition from other people.So the word “shift” here is vivid.Go on, “brooding darkly”also take me attention.In LONGMAN, “brood” means “keep thinking about something that you are worried or upset about” ,and “darkly” means “in a sad, angry, or threatening way”.So I can understand the sentense.The author observed the person carefully. |
